Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything right…
posting, niching down, staying on-brand—and yet something still doesn’t click? It feels like you’re putting in all the effort but getting none of the connection. You’re attracting the wrong people—or maybe no one at all. And deep down, you’re wondering, “Do I even have that it factor everyone talks about?”
Here’s the truth: you don’t find your people by blending in. You don’t grow by copying trends or watering down your voice. You build your community, your momentum, and your income by owning what makes you different.
Hey friend, I’m Kary Perry—brand strategist, business coach, and your permission slip to finally stop blending in and start being magnetic. I remember the season I was caught in the loop of, “What do people want?” I’d scroll for inspiration, collect trending audios, outline a carousel, draft five tips—then hit publish and feel… nothing. I was exhausted, busy, and invisible all at once.
Out of sheer frustration, I posted something small and raw—no polish, just a personal story—and my inbox lit up: “This is exactly what I needed to hear.” That was the moment I realized my brilliance wasn’t in guessing; it was in giving them me. That’s what I want for you today—because your brilliance is already inside you.
Pivot 1: Stop Muting Your Truth → Start Naming What You Really Believe
If you feel invisible, you’re probably posting safe content. Tips, tricks, generic inspiration will get polite likes—but they rarely make anyone feel. The brain filters out sameness; it perks up at conviction.
When you share what you really believe—especially if it’s uncomfortable—you trigger recognition. People stop scrolling because your words cut through the noise. Your beliefs are your most powerful branding tool.
One student came to me posting endless “social media hacks.” She had engagement, but no sales. When she finally said the quiet part out loud—“The algorithm isn’t your problem. Your message is.”—the right people DM’d her within hours. A month later, three new clients. Not because she got louder, but because she got truer.
✨ YOUR ACTION STEP:
Write five “in my opinion” statements about your industry—the things you’d say to a close friend. Pick one and share it this week. Be bold. Be specific. Be you.
Pivot 2: Stop Asking “What Sells?” → Start Asking “What’s Mine to Give?”
Chasing trends keeps you reactive. Your lane lives in your lived experience—the battles you’ve fought, the lessons you’ve learned, the obsessions that light you up.
Ten people can share the same tip; only you can share why it matters through your story. Humans trust lived experience over polished expertise.
A client who kept asking, “What do people want to buy?” stayed stuck until we asked, “What have you walked through that no one else can teach like you?” She’d rebuilt her life after a job loss. When she anchored into helping women navigate that exact season, her content shifted from generic pep talks to lifelines. Engagement rose. Sales followed. Not because the information changed—but because the ownership did.
✨ YOUR ACTION STEP:
Fold a page in half. On the left, list five challenges you’ve overcome. On the right, write what each one taught you. The right-hand column is your brilliance. Choose one lesson and craft a story-based post around it this week.
Pivot 3: Stop Trying to Be Everything → Start Showing Up as More of You
If your brand feels flat, chances are you’ve edited yourself down. You’re hiding quirks, humor, rituals, obsessions—thinking they don’t matter. They do.
Specificity sticks. We remember people through details and moments, not features and facts. When you reveal your full humanity—the messy middle, the quiet joy, the oddly specific—you create closeness, and closeness converts.
One client swore her sourdough obsession had nothing to do with consulting. When she started weaving it into her stories—patience, process, proofing—her audience kept saying, “I feel like I know you.” That familiarity lowered resistance. Her DMs shifted from “Thanks for the tip” to “How can we work together?”
✨ YOUR ACTION STEP:
List ten things about you that have nothing to do with your expertise—quirks, routines, guilty pleasures, rituals. Pick one and share the story behind it this week. Let people see more of you. That’s how you stop blending in.
Here’s what I want you to remember:
You don’t have to invent brilliance or borrow someone else’s path. Your magic is already inside you. When you stop muting it and start owning it, you’ll feel the shift—less chasing attention, more attracting connection.
